How to Configure Windows or System Image Backup on Windows 8.1


To create a System Image Backup in Windows 8.1 is very easy, to create backup of Windows 8.1  navigate to the Control panel->File History as shown below.

Select location where you want to take backup. In my case I am taking C:\ drive backup on D:\ drive. It always recommended to take backup on separate disk, if you take the backup on same disk & if this disk fails you will lose your backups completely. If you want you can take system image backup on DVDs or on a network location. If you're saving your system images in a network location, you can only keep the most current system image for each computer.

I am going to take backup of C:(System) drive, click on Start Backup to start the backup process.

System images are saved in the format of drive\WindowsImageBackup\computer name\. If you have an existing system image for a computer and are creating a new one for the same computer, the new system image will overwrite the existing one. If you want to keep the existing system image, you can copy it to a different location before creating the new system image

Click on Close once backup completed.
